Greetings from Holland,


Half a year ago a bought an 1985 e28 m535
The car was salvaged and i bought the chassis
The idea is to get it back on the road again with the m30b35,
Then build in the new engine management system, upgrade the injectors and fuel system. Then add the turbo and ic.

So i can learn to understand the management system whitout the turbo first.

Because parts are expensive and wanted, he sold the car in pieces.
He took out the motor,gearbox,cardan axle, Speedometer.
interior,bilstein springs and shocks, wheels, mtechnik bumper and wings. Lights and so much more :roll:

I didnt care for the engine because i wanted a m30b35 from an e34.

As you see on the first pics, it doesnt seem to rusty.

So it was quite crispy :x
I bought a mig and i welded some metal into it.

I bought a mtech bumperkit.
17"Rondell style 58
M535 speedometer.
E31 alu brembo front brakes
new koni yellow front shocks.
some used Bilstein m5 rear shocks with mtech springs
Powerflex black bushings front and rear.

And not to forget the m30b35 with getrag 260 overdrive gearbox, harness and motronic
Because of the mismatching engine mounts i made my own , as you can see i used the four boults on the engine. :lol:

I installed the engine and wired it to check everything
This was a bit challenging because i didnt have the old cable that came out of the fusebox, and i had to wire directly to the wires in the fusebox. Some colours where different than the counterpart.

But after one small mistake it worked out fine.

This week i will get the welding ready, i already took off the rear axle for cleaning and changing the bushings. It improved the welding on the rear beams also :o

The car is going to be a drift/tack car.

So i thougt of a holset hx55 as small as possible in and exducer with 19 Housing t4 twinentry

1000cc injectors.
Wasted spark.

I'm willing to rebuild the head but i have to understand the management completly before upgrading the engine.

I hope you guys can help me out with some parts, and a willing to ship some stuff over here :hihi:

The car looks fantastic in the old pictures, are you going to make it look like that again?
As far as turbo choice, I think you're doing the right thing in going with a T4 flanged turbo. The HX55 will probably work out ok, but if you don't need the power (500+) you could probably settle for something smaller in order to gain even faster response. But you should start out with the HX55 and see what you like about it.

Well the outside of the car is going to be as the first pictures,
I'm going to respray the trunklid and the mtech kit
Inside will be just two seats, the battery and the roll cage.
I love the color of the car it reminds me of my z3 montreal blue i owned.

For the hx55 i read a lot here and on pure-pf.

If i can get full boost on 3000-3500 its ok.

I read your story about the e34 with vems and the hx50 with the 25cm housing.
I thought the nr 19 would me the wright one for me.
Going for a hx40 would also be possible.
In sweden everything is about dragracing, i would like to go drifting and racing.

My thoughts with the hx55 61mm in 67mm out that i would make 3 boost settings 0.5 1.0 and 1.5 bar.

Propably the 1,5 bar wil give 650 hp (for what the turbo will do)

But i will go with the stock engine first,

Upgrading the clutch will be the first thing to do, then the head with the hd kippor, feder,toppackning (mls).
A kam change probably will put the boostbuilding rpm up and i dont need that.

I want to wait with upgrading the bottendel untill i know whats it all about.

What horsepower do you think the bottendel will take without detonation.

I have a 1988 BMW 535i with the m30b35 engine, it is hard to find parts for this engine in Norway and i wonder if you know vere i can get the parts??
