Santa stood me up and brought just socks.
Target for next summer is to go faster than current record 11.8/192.

Re: Saabel Garage; Saabel Rekord engine updates
Got the wastegate tack welded, but I have to adjust the angle a bit. All in all it it fits quite nicely.
Re: Saabel Garage; Saabel Rekord engine updates
Over size pistons and 147mm H-beam rods arrived to the engine.
Re: Saabel Garage; Saabel Rekord engine updates
Got the B206 block back from the machinist. Now it is bored to 1mm oversize ie. 91mm, the head surface is skimmed and oil squirters have been installed.
Re: Saabel Garage; Saabel Rekord engine updates
Custom flywheel for Audi -754 clutch. Now it fits properly between SAAB engine and BMW gearbox
Re: Saabel Garage; Saabel Rekord new exhaust manifold ready
Got the manifold back from the welder. It looks so nice
Re: Saabel Garage; Saabel Rekord engine updates
Got the skimmed head and slightly machined pistons back from the machinist. Now I should have all the bits an pieces to get the engine assembled.
Re: Saabel Garage; Saabel Rekord engine updates
Mated a timing plate with a Saab aux wheel. Now I should be able to get the cams timed properly.
Re: Saabel Garage; Are Saab engines unsuitable for RWD setup
Opened the engine I built at the end of last summer. I drove it in dyno and then five quarter mile passes. Today I opened it and 2nd con rod bearing looked like this
That is not that bad, but 2 & 3 Main bearings looked like this
Are there some serious oil feed problems with stock NG900 oil pan on RWD use or what the shit?
Also I checked the cam timing.
Exhaust cam was in the right ball park, but the intake cam was waaaaaaay retarded
I did measure the timing last summer, but how on earth I managed to measure that so wrong.

Re: Saabel Garage; Are Saab engines unsuitable for RWD setup
Any pictures of the inside the oil pan?
Re: Saabel Garage; Are Saab engines unsuitable for RWD setup
Hi, nice car.
A few comments:
A retarded inlet cam means that inlet valve closes later. This lowers low to mid-range torque, which actually might have been a good thing as you were running original con rods.
It's not hp that kills con rods, it's torque (bending) or too high revs (rod cracking or bolts snapping). Or bad oil supply (bearing seizure).
It seems to me that you've probably have had both torque induced bending and bad oil supply. I would change to after market H-profile con rods, and make sure that the oil level in the pan cannot drop below the pick up, no matter the g-forces working on the car. Could you log the oil pressure through-out a drag race run in order to see exactly what happens? Or make the ECU cut ignition if oil pressure falls below a certain level?

Re: Saabel Garage; Are Saab engines unsuitable for RWD setup
An easy fix to the oilproblem would be installing a oilacumulator, because it seems that oil can go backwards/frontwards without a problem?
