Budget 350sb bygge

Inlägg av Racer »

Hallo!

These combinations are built around the Chevy 350 since it is by far the most popular small block. However, if you choose to use these combinations as guidelines to build either smaller or larger chevy small blocks (i.e 327s or 400’s) then feel free.

The use of these combo’s in a smaller or larger engine will cause the RPM’s listed to change somewhat. 327’s will RPM higher due to them placing less demand upon the induction and exhaust system for any given RPM as compared to the 350 ineh engine. And respectivly 400’s will RPM lower due to their increased demand placed upon the induction and exhaust systems for any given RPM.

A 300 inch engine will move the same amount of air and fuel as a 400 inch engine, just at 25% higher RPM’s. –

Try to reasonably evaluate what type of engine you really need, insted of trying to build the hairiest one of the bunch. Chances are you don’t need 55Ohp to smoke the doors off of the local hotroder in your town.
A well built engine using the right combination of parts will get the job done.
That’s whats inside, so your stepping in the right direction.
I would be willing to bet that the 400 hp combo will be the talk of the town if you follow the guidelines given,

If it says 3000 stall converter, then use the damn thing!! Or you’ll slow the car down from the get go and some bum who didn’t chince out on the $100. converter will smoke ya every time.
Furthermore, use some common sense, A street driven 283 overbuilt with a cam way to big, corked up with a two barrel and manifoids is not going to make your stock 73 impala wagon run 12’s.

All of the quarter mile ET’s are based on a well set up 3400 lb. vehicle with optimal gearing, traction ect.

However, we have built late model camaro’s with the 400hp combo, 5 spd trans and 3:73 gears that run high 12’s on street tires, with close exhaust 113 mph!
215-R-65 size tires mind you!! 11 .80’s with a 10 inch slick at the same MPH

300 Horsepower

9.0 compression ratio obtained by using TRW piston #L2256F
With stock 76cc 1.94” x 1.50” heads. Casting#’s 441, 487, 624, 882, 993. (441’s or 487’s have the highest stock airflow).
Competition Cams 268 high energy camshaft # 12-210-2.

Competition Canis magnum roller tip rocker arms # 1412.

Edeibrock #2101 “performer” intake manifold.

#1850 Holley 600 CFM carburetor.

1 5/8” primary headers with 2 1/4” dual exhaust system.

* Operating RPM is 1200 to 5500 with a nice but noticable idle and good vacuum for street.

* For best results use 3:42 or better rear gears and a small 2000 stall converter is optional.

* Great daily driver muscie car for low 14’s / high 13’s and will beat 95% of all trafic encounters.

350 Horsepower

10.0 compression ratio obtained by using TRW piston #L2256F
With stock 64cc 2.02” x 1.60” heads. Casting #‘s 186, 291, 461, 462, 492. (461 heads have no accessory bolt holes)

Competition Cams 280 magnum camshaft # 12-212-2.

Competition Cams magnum roller tip rocker arms #1412.

Edelbrock #7101 “Performer RPM” intake manifold.

#33 10 Holley 750 CFM carburetor.

1 5/8” primary headers with 2 1/2” dual exhaust system.

* Operating RPM is 2000 to 6000 with a high pérflope at id!e.

* Needs mild stall converter or standard trans with 3:73 or better rear gears.

* Great street machine, daily driver for low 13’s high 12’s

400 Horsepower

11.0 compression ratio obtained by using TRW piston #L2304F
With ported 64cc heads. (Same castings a for the 350hp recipe.)

Competition Cams 292 magnum camshaft #12-213-3.

Competition Cams magnum roller tip rocker arms
#1416 on intakes and #1412 on exhausts.

Weiand #7546 “X-CELerator” intake manifod with divider installed

#3310 Holley carb.

1 5/8” primary header with 2 1/2” dual exhaust system. (extending the collectors will help the mid
range torque output on most engines. 18’ to 24” seems to work well, can add up to 30 fl. lbs.)

‘ Operating RPM is 2500 to 6500 with a rough, lopey, but streetable idle, low vacuum.

* Needs 3200 stall converter or standard transmission with 4:10 or better rear gears.

* Killer street engine for easy mid 12’s.
Screams like a demon so use good rod bolts like A.RP’s.
450 Horsepower

11.0 compression ratio obtained by using the same piston as the 400hp
With ported 64cc Dart fl Sportsman heads 2.02” x 1.60” valves. (Be sure to get the Sportsman’s and not the SIR’s)

Lunati Cams solid cam #40137 or hydraulic cam #301 16.

500 Horsepower

12.5 compression ratio obtained by using TRW piston #L2460F. Miii the block deck height to
0.00’, and mil .025” off of the head surface.

Use Brodix “Track 1” aluminum cylinder heads.

Ultradyne Cams 288/296 bracket class roller cainshaft.

Lunati roller rocker arm #84148.

Edelbrock #2975 “Victor Jr.” intake manifoid with one inch open spacer.

#4779 Holley carb. 750 CFM carburetor.

1 3/4” primaiy racing headers with open exhaust. (Like Hooker Super Competitons)

* Operating RPM is 3500 to 7500 with very rough idie and low vacuum.

* This piston requires the use of a 6” aftermarket connecting rod.

* Needs 4000 stall converter or standard transmission, needs 4:88 or better rear gears.

* Bracket racer or serious pro streeter for low 11’s
550 Horsepower

12.5 compression ratio obtained by using the same proceedures as above.

Use ported Brodix “Track 1” aluminum cylinder heads with 2.08” x 1.60” valves.

Lunati Cams #RRA 268-27 1 special purpose mechanical roller camshaft.

Lunati Cams roller rocker arms #84l55 on intakes and #84147 on exhausts. (For 7/16” studs)

* Strictly bracket racer for mid 10’s.
(be sure to use heavy duty parts for the 500 and 550 hp’s)
