Have to say you are correct about the Gatebil. Luckily there are plenty of Gatebil´s to come and I am very sure I´ll get to drive this to some event.

Started the winter season today. Hope I get the engine lifted off next week.

And the engine is out. Next it goes to engine stand and gets completely disassembled.

Almost got the engine disassembled. Didn´t have proper damper tool so I couldn´t get yet the crankshaft and cam removed, but it will be properly torn apart this weekend.

Got the engine disassembled completely.

Otherwise engine looked decent, but the end bearing looks a bit odd. Like it would be very worn, but still it doesn´t look like it had been destroyed just now.

Also camshaft looked a bit weird. It had almost flat spots where the lifter "goes up" on the lifter ramp.

Have to think a bit if I ditch this cam and buy "some V6" cam from Rockauto at 70$ price. I am pretty sure any cam would work decently.

Melling (and others) sell the Syclone/Typhoon cam as a stage one performance cam, with a steep mark up so $77 seems like a bargain, and i guess "some V6 cam" will be smaller.

This 77$ cam appears to be quite close to these. Also I am going on a budged, so I am also looking for reasonable pricing :D

The cam looked somewhat machined and it had some kind of coating on it. So, today I measured 0.050" degrees and lift of it.
Typhoon stock cam specs;
* '91-'93, ZR9/Z79, Syclone/Typhoon
- Lift (I/E) - .351/.386
- Dur @ .050 (I/E) - .179/.195 (Ductile)

Specs for this cam:
lift .372/.393
duration 180/196

All in all stock cam with little extra lift.

End result is that I have to order 77$ cam from Rockauto, because it has more duration and lift than this :D

Got the cylinder block back from machinist, few parcels from Rockauto and washed the bottom end parts. Plan is to get bottom end quite much assembled tomorrow.

Week ago I had to try if my Rekord still starts. It did! Had to make new fuel lines and somehow there was water in few cylinders :shock: Took off the spark plugs, rotated engine, put spark plugs back and started it :) Have to say it is not fully drivable, but hopefully some day it will be again in full beast mode 8)

Is it a budget issue that you don't try a rollercam or give it too little?

And do you have any theory why connecting rods and main bearings have these damages?

This is a roller lifter cam and I am going on a budged, so it it what it is. My horsepower target is 350-400hp, so it doesn´t need much. Also with this cam the turbo should spool up nicely.

Today I got the parts kind of fitted into engine bay. It looks like everything is going to fit, but it is a bit of a squeeze :D
