Hi iadr! I am used to everyone cutting the stands 2mm:s just because they have higher lift. In a push rod V8 you set the stands very low to minimize the side loading on the adjustment screws as they easily break with 1000lbs at full lift. Not the best for geometry but the only way to survive. Volvo's do not have that problem so I am going to try to get as good leverage as possible. As it looks now with the head on the bench there are no strange movements over the tip of the valve even at 18mm:s of lift. My valves sit a little lower in the seats than stock, maybe 1mm. The point where the rocker touches is just over the valves center. To begin with I will be using a cam with 13mm lift and 255 degrees of duration at .050" that Reine at AGAP has ground for me. There will be a wilder engine with a roller cam later. I am going to port heads for a Rally cross B20 engine with 97mm bores. That way I will be able to use 46mm valves without shrouding and hopefully get 220cfm of flow at 28". I do not like valves being too close to the bore like a 89 or 90mm bore B20 with 46mm intake valves. I am thinking about using a 164 head for my engine so I can move it sideways to unshroud the intakes or maybe make a billet head. If I remember right you were busy with a special head for Volvo before? Please forward the Yella Terra info. Erland.
