Made my own Dirt Cheap Dingo
I believe that Dirty Dingo design is because they have wanted full bolt on solution. With this my design I had to grind a bit of that aluminum piece under it.
Old aux belt routing. No good.

New idler pulley location.
Interesting to see how it works now but I am confident it is good.

I have had this beast waiting at the yard for a year. Originally the engine which is in Rekord was ment to be in this. I´ll mock up the engine mounts and all the rest with that engine and borrow it for a while to the 740. This is a classical "fast and easy project". Interesting to see how it goes. I have plan that I´d get to drive this #740LS on frozen lake this winter. Should be possible because I already have complete engine, wiring harness and gearbox.

Surprisingly tight fit. With a different oil pan and LS1 intake there would be ~3cm space between oilpan and front axle and ~8cm between intake manifold and bonnet. At the moment engine sits on top of front axle and intake -> bonnet clearance is less than one centimeter. Note I had to also cut bonnet structures a bit.

Got the exhaust pipe done quite far.
I bought the exhaust manifolds from http://www.v8only.com because they appeared to be decent starting points for easy and cheap exhaust system.
Obviously passenger side is not an issue, but driver side is. It got sorted out with angle grinder and welder.

So LS in a 740 its best to move the angine 1-2cm to the passenger side

I think it would cause problems with drive shaft. Exhaust manifold modifying is quite easy task or atleast much easier than modifying the floor.Steve wrote:So LS in a 740 its best to move the angine 1-2cm to the passenger side

Threw in radiator and assembled the front. Everything looking to fit in very good

Still quite a lot to do before first start.

Opened a LSD diff. It is "slightly broken".

Then I changed all the suspension bushes to polyurethane.


Also bought new suspension. BC Racing with 8kg front springs and 6kg rear springs. Positive surprise was that new front struts are 5kg lighter than old ones.

Had to pull out the engine once again to assemble oil pickup and clutch.
LS + billet flywheel + SRE765 with organic plate + GS5-39DZ

Now engine is going back in and target is to get it started before 2021.

Well, didn´t get it started 2020. Wiring harness is still in progress along with few other little things, but anyway it is looking quite good.

Got the wiring harness quite much done and it fits decently. Still missing few connectors, because I forgot to order them.
