Saabel Garage; Rekord V8 and #740LS

Hmpfff... Not exactly the start for the year I was hoping for. Volvo engine had frozen earlier and now the block has been cracked. So, I have to first change engine to Volvo and then get back to the Rekord. On the positive side: Changing the engine to Volvo is quite easy and dropping in the Rekord engine is also very streight forward

Had to take Volvo to the road inspection. Now I can drive with it one more year Passed the inspection with flying colors.

Well, Volvo needs yet some fiddling before dyno. There appears to be some sort of coolant flow problem in it, because lower coolant hose from radiator stays quite cold. Should try if removing thermostat would fix the problem and after that try to find working thermostat.
Rekord is as is and nothing has happened to it. Should prep it for inspection, but haven´t got anything done.

After all the "haven´t got anything done" I bought yet another project. Friend of mine put his Kadett C for sale and after a short thinking I bought it. Rust free rolling chassis and it was missing just radiator, engine and gearbox. It just had to be bought Now I have already fitted a Opel 125hp C18XE engine with Omega gearbox in it. Next I should drop the axles and lightly sandblast the bottom end, paint it, assemble and get in driving condition. This also needs to be inspected because last time it was road worthy was in year 2008.

I have no idea. Maybe some sort of Opel Ascona B 400-fender kit?

I think you are right. I asked from previous owner and Lapuan lasikuitu in Finland has done those fenders.

Interesting which of these projects gets first inspected; Kadett or Typhoon. Kadett needs quite much work and Typhoon might be ok if I just put Maxxecu in it. I am drowning in unfinished projects...

My youtube channel with few videos. The plan is to make video next weekend in Kaanaa with #740LS Volvo. Tires have been set on wheels and Volvo needs just small repairs.

Got the #740LS to the track and it worked quite much perfectly. Handbrake has most likely some cylinder stuck and therefore it didn´t do anything. Othwerwise I got to burn ~12 tires and Volvo needed just little cooling in between rounds. It was a bit surprise because weather was +27c. I have come in conclusion that this LS waterpump doesn´t move coolant at idle at all, but with 2500+ rpm it does the job. For the next time I have to make cool air intake for air filter, some sort of waterspray system to radiator and fix the handbrake. Then it is a fullsmul time again

Got the Typhoon inspected and it is now road worthy after over 10 year hibernation! Although it is now road legal it most definitely needs new engine management. Current one has some perfomance chip in it and it just doesn´t work properly. Maxxecu race and new wiring harness will fix all the problems.

Took the #740LS to the quarter mile and it went quite well.
14 passes and six of those were in the 12´s. The best time was 12.82s/180kmh. 5th gear rev limiter hit just at the finish line, so trap speeds were all 180.9kmh
