Hi All;
I have noticed a few differences with the lifters in one of my spare heads.
The "plunger" inside the lifter acts differently.
#1 these are solid with thumb pressure, but the plunger can be pulled a few mm out and move back and forth.
#2 These are nearly solid with thumb pressure, but slight "springy". High thumb pressure can sag the lifter a mm or so max. Can easily be pulled out.
#3 These are really soft with thumb pressure and sort of bottoms out by thumb. Plunger moves freely.
Anyone know how the lifters are suppose to behave when pulled from an engine that has been standing for a long time?
Im guessing i cant really diagnose any of them without being really sure the lifters have been exercised under oil pressure.
It could seem like the #3 lifters would be in a condition where the non return valve isent keeping tight, or perhaps the chamber inside simply is without oil now.
Anyone that can shed some light to this?
