MB 190E 2.3-16 Turbo

Hi there!

Here`s my latest project. It`s a street car.

Mercedes-Benz 190E.
Engine: 2.3-16
Gearbox: Getrag 5-speed dog-leg
Differential: 3.07 LSD
MY1985 (only body is from 1991)

Spec list:

Exterior :
EVO1 body kit (I produce these kits)
Sepang bronze color
BBS LM wheels 18" front 8", rear 9". Tires: front 225 , rear 255

Interior:
Original leather recaro sports seats
Fully adjustable powered front seats
4x powered windows
2x seat heating
Powered sliding roof
Cruise control
Gauges : Oil temp, boost , and voltmeter.
VEMS LCD screen to display the engine operation parameters
Becker traffic pro stereo


Engine :
Overhauled the stock engine.
CR 10.5
Stiffer engine mounts
7075 aluminum lightweight pulley with a trigger wheel.
Camshaft position sensor. Originally this engine has distributor.
VAG ignition coils - Bremi 4pcs
3 - wire bosch idle air valve.

Engine management:
VEMS
New wiring harness
Sequential ignition
EGT and Wideband Lambda
MAC electronic boost control solenoid


Inlet:
45mm ITB`s from GSXR 750
Turbo plenum with full-radius trumpets.
Billet fuel rail and fuel pressure regulator.
4 bar FPR
980cc Bosch EV14 injectors.
AN6 fuel lining.
Custom Vacuum terminal.
Tial 50mm blow off.


Exhaust:
Turbo manifold made of seamless pipes.
Graphite coated exhaust wrap.
Precision 6265 Billet turbocharger.
Turbosmart 50mm wastegate.
3 " stainless steel downpipe .
Stainless steel exhaust system.
Simons+Martelius rear muffler.

Drivetrain :
Billet flywheel ~ 4.3kg
Alcon 184mm 3 -disc clutch
Hydraulic bearing
Stainless steel shifter rods with bearings instead of bushings.
Shortshifter
LSD spring block.


Brakes:
The front: 4piston callipers ML430
345x32mm discs. Central parts machined out and replaced with billet aluminum hubs.
Rear brakes from W124 320TE
Goodridge stainless steel braided brake hoses .
ATE blue racing brake fluid


Suspension :
H & R Cup kit suspension.
Delrin front control arm bushings .
Delrin rear subframe bushings.
Other bushings are new OEM parts.
Bearings from SKF.


Cooling system :
450x550x60mm custom radiator.
2x 10 " electric fans .
300x300x100mm custom intercooler

I`m going to replace all pulleys. New pulleys will be 7075 anodized alloy.

Who can produce custom drive axles? Few weeks ago when we went dragrace at Kjula dragway I spoke about BMW FFP axles with a guy and he told there is a company which producing axles from some kind of Swedish flexible steel.

Beginning of March I broke my engine. 3 rods bent and 1 totally broken. 2 big holes in block....Approx 470hp. No detonation at all even with 10.5CR.

But a week ago I started my car with new (old) engine and I have approx 400kms behind.

New block is from 1982.
Bored to 96.5mm.
Wiseco 9.0CR pistons, SPM rods. Kolbenschmidt bearings. I use 2.5-16 cylinder head and cams at the moment because 2 intake valves in 2.3-16 head are bent.

I installed my fluid flow control valve to reduce stress loads to drive train. It works perfectly with 3-disc Alcon sinter clutch.

If anybody interested I have some sets of hydraulic clutch release bearings (inner hole 30mm, I will produce 35mm for BMW guys later) and fluid control valves.

Few months ago I opened engine because all pistons were ruined. It`s because shop where block bored didn`t use stress plate when boring. Even that I provided one.

Then....new block, new parts and we`re at the beginning again.

Because I had to wait for pistons I had much time to rebuilt the head.
Bought new cams, lifters, valve springs and retainers from CatCams. Custom made valve guides.

Valve clearances are adjusted and engine noise is normal again.

Because exhaust was too loud I installed 2x60mm stainless exhaust throttles to reduce sound on light load cruising. It works perfectly. Vacuum closing valves. Up from 3000rpm valves are opened all time because when I brake with engine and hit the throttle again exhaust gas flow will not let the valves open anymore. Controlling pneumatic solenoid valve with ECU.

Have to figure out something with rear drive axles. At the moment one is broken again. In winter it`s time to find better solution than stock parts.
Need stiffer suspension than H&R cup kit. Maybe H&R Rennen kit. I have sold one kit to original EVO1 and owner told it was just perfect.
