Like I say, I just know the same "theory" that everyone does- if the block and head grow a few thousandths(inch) warm, then cool off, your "bolt" must have more stretch than that. Also, If your initial torque puts a few thousandths(inch) stretch then the assembly of head, gasket,...

It all has to do with bolt stretch, and the spring effect. 12.9 bolts are brittle, not springy. Others have argued the theory (saying all steels are alike, per their engineering text books...hahaha) but the results can't be argued with.

Hi Erland,

That's one way. I'd say 4G63 rods are a bit better yet...They take the stroke to 88.9mm. That's what my daily driver uses. No problems in 10 years. Pistons are custom.

Hi Erland. The one thing I noticed years ago is that the stand height is set up for best geometry with about 9mm lift. Of course this was exactly what the majority of the early b18's had. better than my Swedish... :)

Traditionally, the way to go was 164E rotors/discs/skiva(?) and the 240 vented calipers, but over here, 164E rotors are getting rare. I'll be interested to see how it works.
